Using the Rule of Thirds

I took time out of this weekend to do another page and I'm very happy with this one.
One of my best friends is away at a Bible school in Hawaii with another friend of mine.
I was going through some old pictures and found a few of her and I and decided that's what I would scrapbook next.
In my last post I posted a video and it said you can take layouts from online and use them to help design your page, so this is the layout I used:

The video also said that using the Rule of Thirds is a good strategy to place your pictures. I love using the Rule of Thirds, it helped me with where to put my pictures. The Rule of Thirds is a strategy to help you place pictures, but only on the intersecting lines. If you place the pictures wherever, your pictures could be un-even. I think this is my best page so far and I'm very happy with the video I found and it's information.
Here is the process of my scrapbook and the finished product:

As you can see, my layout is very similar to the one from the internet. I changed a few things and didn't make it exact. I wanted to make it my own.
Like I said before. I love this scrapbook, and am very happy with how it turned out.

Hope you enjoyed!
Thanks for following :)

Learning How To Place Pictures

I was looking online for some videos that could help with my scrapbooking and I found a great video from youtube
Here it is:

I thought this video was really good. She mentioned the rule of thirds, and I never even thought to use that for scrapbooking but that would help a lot with placing pictures and whatever else I decide to put with the pictures.
For my next scrapbook I'm going to use the rule of thirds to place down my pictures.
I have a hard time thinking of how to layout my page and how to make it look nice, but also different from the other pages I've already done.
She mentioned that you can go online and print off already made layouts and then use those layouts to help you with your page. I like this idea because it'll help me learn different ways to layout your pages.
Althought this video was short, I thought it was very helpful, and I'll always have the rule of thirds in mind now.
I hope that others who are seeing my blog, will watch this video and that it will be helpful to them as well.

My next post will hopefully be a finished scrapbook page! :)

Remembering Central Park

I did another scrapbook page, its about New York like my last one but its about Central Park. I am very happy with the way it turned out. As I said before about my first page I finished, I didnt like the writing I did in it, so while I was doing this page, I redid the writing by printing it off so it looks a little neater.
I like that each page Ive done so far are different from each other. This page was a little difficult and frustrating because it was very blank and I only had a few pictures of Central Park I could use. It was difficult to figure out how to fill that blank space but I had several ideas I could do to fix it. Everything I tried wasnt turning out the way I wanted. My sister helped me figure out what to do, as well as me just playing around to get the look I wanted. I have so many ideas of other pages I can do, and Im so excited to get started on them.
Heres what I did this weekend:

My Mentor

My Mentor for my passion project is my sister Karyn. My sister and I used to scrapbook a lot when we were younger. I always remember Karyn being really good at it and me not so much. When I thought about doing this project I thought that Karyn would be a good choice for my mentor. She helped me with my first scrapbooking page and I'm happy I chose her. I knew I would be. Karyn is actually the reason I started scrapbooking. When I was younger I saw her doing it and it interested me so I started it, but even though I wasn't that good, I still enjoyed it. I haven't scrapbooked in a long time and I'm not sure why I stopped but this project was a good excuse to get back into it, and already I can tell that I'll keep doing this project after this course is over. It's a fun activity. I love storing memories. Something to always have and to look back on.

My First

I finished my first scrapbooking page. My sister Karyn helped me and I'm very happy with how it turned out. The only thing I'm not totally happy with is the writing part I did on the page, I wanted to type it out in a nice font, but my printer isn't working and was also out of ink, so I had to write it out myself.
Other than that I think I did a good job and I'm excited to do more scrapbooking pages.
I did this page on my school New York trip I went on in May. It was an amazing trip and one that I want to remember in my head but also in a picture book. I had some designed paper that I used. I cut out a strip and taped it on the side of my paper to make the paper more colourful. I also cut out a square of the same design to put in the opposite corner and then add a smaller white paper on top of that to write on. In the corner I have a button that I got in New York from going to Radio City. That was really cool, and the page was missing something so I glued it on and I thought it looked really good.
So heres what it looks like:

My Supplies

I thought I'd post a picture of all my scrapbooking supplies that I recently bought. I bought these supplies so I could start scrapbooking as a fun creative activity on my own time, but then decided to do this as my passion project.
So heres a picture of all the supplies I have:
